Blank display, unit makes high-pitched whine due to wrong video resolution.
Cause:
Current display resolution for Windows exceeded the specifications of the monitor.
Solution:
Restart Windows in 'Safe Mode' and reset the display resolution to be compatible with the monitor.
1) Restart Windows in Safe Mode
2) Refer to the user manual for the monitor to determine which display resolutions are supported by the monitor.
3) Reset the display resolution to a resolution supported by the monitor, and restart the computer.
4) Repeat step 3) until you find an acceptable display resolution.
